0

ISO 25980:2014 specifies safety requirements for transparent welding curtains, strips, and screens to be used for shielding of work places from their surroundings where arc welding processes are used. They are designed to protect people who are not involved in the welding process from hazardous radiant emissions from welding arcs and spatter.

Welding curtains, strips, and screens it specifies are not intended to replace welding filters. For intentional viewing of welding arcs other means of protection are used.

It is not applicable for welding processes where laser radiation is used.

NOTE Darker welding curtains or screens are advisable for mutual separation of adjacent work places for reasons of comfort.

0

ISO 4995:2014 applies to hot-rolled steel sheet of structural quality in the grades listed in Table 1, usually prepared without the use of microalloying elements. The product is intended for structural purposes where particular mechanical properties are required. It is generally used in the delivered condition and is intended for bolted, riveted, or welded structures. This product is produced on a wide strip mill, not a plate mill.

This International Standard does not cover steels intended for boilers or pressure vessels, steels designated as commercial quality or drawing quality (covered in ISO 3573[1]), steels to be re-rolled to cold-reduced products, or steels designated as weathering steels, having increased atmospheric corrosion resistance.

ISO 630-5:2014 specifies qualities for steels with improved atmospheric corrosion resistance for general structural use. It applies to steel plates rolled on a reversing mill, wide flats, hot-rolled sections and bars, which are used in the usual delivery conditions as given in 6.3, and normally intended for welded or bolted structures.

It covers nine (9) grades and four (4) qualities. Not all grades are available in all qualities, and some qualities have Charpy V-notch requirements.

It does not include the following structural steels, certain of which are covered by other International Standards: sheet and strip ? refer to ISO TC 17/SC 12 "Continuous mill flat rolled products"; tubular products ? refer to ISO TC 5/SC 1 "Steel tubes".

ISO 6506-1:2014 : Metallic materials - Brinell hardness test - Part 1: Test method

$
0
0

ISO 6506-1:2014 specifies the method for the Brinell hardness test for metallic materials. It is applicable to both fixed location and portable hardness testing machines.

For some specific materials and/or products, particular International Standards exist (e.g. ISO 4498) and make reference to this International Standard.

ISO 6506-2:2014 : Metallic materials - Brinell hardness test - Part 2: Verification and calibration of testing machines

$

0

ISO 6506-2:2014 specifies methods of direct and indirect verification of testing machines used for determining Brinell hardness in accordance with ISO 6506-1, and also specifies when these two types of verification has to be performed.

The direct verification involves checking that individual machine performance parameters fall within specified limits whereas the indirect verification utilizes hardness measurements of reference blocks, calibrated in accordance with ISO 6506-3, to check the machine's overall performance.

If a testing machine is also to be used for other methods of hardness testing, it has to be verified independently for each method.

ISO 6506-2:2014 is applicable to both fixed location and portable hardness testing machines. For machines that are incapable of satisfying the specified force-time profile, the direct verification of force and testing cycle can be modified by the use of Annex B.

ISO 9308-1:2014 : Water quality - Enumeration of Escherichia coli and coliform bacteria - Part 1: Membrane filtration method for waters with low bacterial background flora

$
0
0

ISO 9308-1:2014 specifies a method for the enumeration of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and coliform bacteria. The method is based on membrane filtration, subsequent culture on a chromogenic coliform agar medium, and calculation of the number of target organisms in the sample. Due to the low selectivity of the differential agar medium, background growth can interfere with the reliable enumeration of E. coli and coliform bacteria, for example, in surface waters or shallow well waters. This method is not suitable for these types of water.

ISO 9308-1:2014 is especially suitable for waters with low bacterial numbers that will cause less than 100 total colonies on chromogenic coliform agar (CCA). These may be drinking water, disinfected pool water, or finished water from drinking water treatment plants.

Some strains of E. coli which are β-D-glucuronidase negative, such as Escherichia coli O157, will not be detected as E. coli. As they are β-D-galactosidase positive, they will appear as coliform bacteria on this chromogenic agar.

ISO/IEC 17811-3:2014 : Information Technology - Device control and management - Part 3: Specification of Reliable Message Delivery Protocol

$

0

ISO/IEC 17811-3:2014 provides the specification of Reliable Message Delivery Protocol (RMDP), which is an application-layer protocol used to provide uniform and reliable message delivery among devices regardless of the underlying network protocols or interfaces.

The network security is out of scope in this part of ISO/IEC 17811. However, the security services might be necessary according to applications of RMDP. RMDP might suffer from many network-specific threats. To countermeasure those threats, some security mechanism can be deployed.
