CAN/ULC S127-14 : Standard Corner Wall Method of Test for Flammability Characteristics of Non-Melting Foam Plastic Building Materials

$

0
There were no major changes made to the Standard. Updates were made to the existing Reference Standards and "Smoke Developed Value (SDV)" was removed as a defined term as it is not referenced anywhere within the Standard.

This method of test for flammability characteristics is applicable to certain low density insulating materials that do not melt or drip during exposure to fire (see Appendix A). It is used in establishing the Flame Spread Classification for those foamed plastics whose flammability assessment found in CAN/ULC-S102, Standard Method of Test for Surface Burning Characteristics of Building Materials and Assemblies, requires the use of the rate formula FSV = 92.5 d/t but where the necessary parameters ("d"&"t") for use in the formula are difficult to define.

The purpose of this test is to determine the comparative burning characteristics of the material under test by exposing the material in a corner wall configuration to a test fire.

It is the intent of this method to register performance during the period of exposure and not to determine suitability for use after the test exposure."

CAN/ULC S8753-13-AM1 : Standard for Field-Replaceable Light Emitting Diode (LED) Light Engines

$
0
0
This standard specifies the requirements applicable to holders, bases and connectors intended for solid-state (LED) light engines and arrays for installation in lighting equipment, provided that they employ a configuration not typically found on incandescent or fluorescent light sources. This standard does not cover lampholders with screw, bayonet or pin-type bases intended to be compatible with incandescent or fluorescent lamps. This standard does not cover wire connectors.

CAN/ULC S511-14 : Standard for Lined Fire Hose for Interior Standpipes and Municipal and Industrial Fire-Protection Services

$

CAN/ULC S316-14 : Standard for Performance of Video Surveillance Systems

$
0
0
This standard provides minimum acceptable performance parameters for video surveillance systems. The system stakeholder determines the video surveillance system operational requirements.

The purpose of this Standard is to provide guidance to ensure that security video system functions and performance are achieved, to assist end users, integrators, consultants and authorities with a means to objectively define, verify, and maintain compliance to performance standards.

This Standard is structured: A To accommodate a broad range of applications; B To reflect widely used current and emerging technologies; C To avoid specific technological requirements that may restrict the application of advanced innovative solutions and new technology; and D Is based on a Risk — Application method. Application of the Standard requires the practitioner to determine associated risk level based on a risk assessment of each area to be covered and determination of the primary objective for each camera associated with that area. The results may then be used to select the system class requirements for each area within the system. A set of specific functional parameters required for compliance is provided for each class or category.

0
This Standard applies to the construction, operation, maintenance and replacement of electric utility systems that are used to generate, transform, transmit, distribute or deliver electrical power or energy to consumer services or their equivalent, including:

A Equipment located in easements, rights of way, or in other recognized agreements;
B Equipment located on property owned or leased by the electric utility for the purpose of communication, metering and control of electrical power or energy;
C Service drops or laterals, associated metering, and street lighting under the exclusive control of electric utilities;
D Facilities used to generate electrical power or energy for electric utility systems; and
E Voltage levels up to 800 kV a.c. line-to-line (L-L) and 600 kV d.c.

The purpose of this Standard is to provide safety performance requirements for electric utilities, workers and employers involved in work on or near electric generation, transmission and distribution systems.
